Unfortunately dentists around the country have noticed an increase in cracked and broken teeth throughout 2020. Approximately 41% of American adults have reported symptoms of anxiety and depression disorders this year. This is almost a 3-fold increase from 2019. On the other hand, there is some optimism regarding oral health: the numbers are up this year of those who are brushing twice each day or more. The surveys also showed slight increases in the usage of mouthrinses and flossing. The use of a daily mouthrinse was up from 41% in January 2020 (prior to COVID-19 being declared a pandemic) to 45% in October 2020. While it is difficult to cope during this very tough time, it is nice to see that some are trying to establish healthier oral care habits.
